Sonny Eliot was an American actor, comedian, and television personality. He was best known for his role as the host of the popular Detroit-based television show, The Sonny Eliot Show. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 5, 1920. Eliot began his career in radio in the 1940s, working as a disc jockey and announcer for various stations in Detroit. He eventually moved to television, hosting The Sonny Eliot Show from 1954 to 1965. The show featured a variety of guests, including celebrities, politicians, and local personalities. In addition to his television work, Eliot was also a successful stand-up comedian. He performed in clubs and theaters throughout the Midwest, and was a regular on the Las Vegas Strip. He also appeared in several films, including The Nutty Professor (1963) and The Great Race (1965). Eliot was married twice, first to actress and singer, June Hutton, and later to actress and singer, Jo Ann Pflug. He had two children, a son and a daughter. Eliot died on August 8, 2002, at the age of 81. He was survived by his two children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
