Suki Waterhouse covers the January issue of Elle UK to promote …. okay, she’s not really promoting anything. Suki is officially acting in her model capacity for this issue. She looks pretty here even if I’m not impressed by the open-mouthed pose. That’s probably not her fault because so many photographers insist upon a slack mouth. Photogs need to outgrow that phase because it’s getting old.
Now back to Suki. I know I sound like a total smartass in this intro, but sometimes I do forget all about Suki’s usual occupation because she’s pushing hard to become an actress. Plus I’m still admittedly weirded out by a 21-year-old model dating 38-year-old Bradley Cooper. These two unlikely lovebirds have been dating since March, so I guess it’s pretty serious. Or at least that’s what Suki would have us believe because she’s talking to Elle about wanting to have babies. Uh-oh:
On blogs: “I try not to look at that stuff. In reality, if there are 200 people commenting on something online, it’s less than a grain of salt in a huge beach of humanity — who cares? I just want to work hard, do stuff of the best possible quality and be a great friend.”
She went to school with Cara Delevingne & Georgia May Jagger: “That’s the really cool thing. We’ve been mates since we were kids so now, when we’re working together, it never feels like I’m on my own. That’s such an advantage compared to the girls from abroad who know nobody. That’s why I always try and befriend new girls. Not that they always want me to!”
Her biological clock is ticking? “I really like the idea of having kids in not too long Not, like, now. And not next year. But in not too long. I talk about it quite a lot. I think it’s the coolest thing.”
Don’t ask about BCoop: “I don’t talk about my boyfriend because it’s boring. At least, that’s what I decided to tell you when you asked. We did meet at the Style Awards, I’ll give you that. Look, maybe it’s best for me to say, ‘I’m not one of those girls who goes on about their boyfriends.’ I do think whatever I say will sound weird. But the truth is, if I start talking about him, I probably won’t be able to stop. And I don’t really want to talk about him, you know?”
On working for Burberry: “I know it’s cool to pretend you don’t care. But I love fashion and I love clothes. I live my life in a sea of clothes. And it’s fantastic to be able to use them and play with them.”
Her dad’s a plastic surgeon: “I used to go into hospital with my dad and visit the reconstruction patients — and sometimes the cosmetic ones, too. I’ve got nothing against plastic surgery at all. I know lots of people, young and old, who’ve had it. The point about good surgery is you can’t see it. The important thing is not to go crazy — and not to go to a bad surgeon.”

That bit about talking but not talking about Bradley Cooper is kind of cute. She’ll probably make BCoop smile a bit when he hears about this interview. Oh but things really get weird with Suki raving about her biological clock, don’t they? Bradley might freak out a little bit about that one. Most 21-year-olds aren’t chomping at the bit to take advantage of their dwindling fertility. I can’t figure out if Suki is serious or if she’s taking the p-ss. Maybe she’s making fun of us since her much older boyfriend does delight in reading Lolita for all the world to see. Who knows.
I’ve included some pictures of Suki with Cara Delevigne and Georgia May Jagger at a London amusement park about a week ago. Cara looks terrified, and Georgia looks like she’s over it. Suki looks better than I’ve seen her look in any photoshoot.
