British cinema based company, Odeon, have conducted a brand new poll in order to find the nation’s favourite book-to-film adaptation.
More than 2000 movie fans were asked to name their top 10 favourite books that have been adapted into films and some of the results are quite surprising.
Coming first in the survey was, of course, Harry Potter, racking a huge 32% of the vote. The hit fantasy series cast its spell on movie critics and became an instant success across the globe, becoming the second-highest-grossing film series to be ever made.
In second and third place was Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol with 30% and Stephen King’s The Shawshank Redemption with 28%.
Other brands included in the top 5 were The Lord of The Rings Saga and the James Bond Series, each coming 4th and 5th respectively.
The full top-20 of the UK’s favourite film-to-book adaptations were as follows:
Adaptations failing to make the cut included The Twilight Series, To Kill A Mockingbird and Life Of Pi. And with award-winning books such as The Girl On The Train also being released in film edition later this year the lineup may want to prepare for change.
